A left-leaning decrease is one where two stitches are worked together into a single stitch, and the stitch on the right is leaning leftward over the other one. If the resulting single stitch is used as the right stitch in another left-leaning decrease (in a subsequent row), they will form a visible decrease line in the finished work.
